What manner of flower should i plant?
and any guidance or guidlines?
thanks
Answers: I also live surrounded by California (where we are currently experiencing an incredible downpour of rain next to strong winds.) Right very soon the weather is not conducive to planting anything! You shouldn't dig contained by wet soil, so you might want to be patient if the weather is not contained by your favor in your bit of the state right now.
Of course the most defining consideration is what appeals to you. Try looking around your neighborhood and seeing what looks good to you. Ask local gardeners, who are usually festive to talk in the order of their gardens and may even offer you cuttings or seed from their garden. (I often share near people who hike past my patio and ask about a picky plant.)
A great choice for a beginning flower gardener contained by California is what we commonly call geranium (even though it is botanically a pelargonium.) They come contained by many flower colors, including almost every shade of red, pink, salmon, and white. Some hold colorful leaves as well. They come contained by a variety of sizes and forms. You regularly see them as potted plants, but you can plant them in the ground as ably. They are easy to grow and survive both the warmth and relative cold for years. The stems are thick and succulent, so they are not as sensitive to drought as frequent flowers. They are easy to find surrounded by any plant nursery in the spring time - your local Lowe's or Home Depot will enjoy a large supply of inexpensive geraniums. It is also unforced to start new plants from the cuttings, so you can form more plants from your original plant. They bloom from untimely spring (actually, I have a few flowers even now) through the dribble, so you have a long bloom season.
