What is a very good brand of pruning shears? I see some of the brands at Home Depot and they look so blah.?

Answers:
Not everyone can afford to pay big bucks for Fiskars, muchless buying them at a garden center's price. Unless you used them at your full time job most of us poor folk have to look elsewhere.

CONSUMER REPORTS reported on hand clipers in 2001 or 2002. It rated Corona as an equil in quility to Fiskars. So if they are equil in quility and cast much less, what would you choose? I am not a rich doctor. I can't afford paying extra for a fancy name brand when I can get a Corona to do the same good job for less. If Consumer Reports says Corona is as good as Fiskars, I 'd buy the Corona every time.

We like the Fiskars brand. Seem to be quite tough and dependable.

I love my Fiskars too, had them for years
Try Oxo bypass loppers for bigger limbs and they make smaller hand shears as well. Can't beat them for comfort and they're very well made. I also use Fiskars hand shears... they make a version that is so ergonomic that I don't get hand cramps even after using them for long periods. One of the handles rolls across your palm as you cut. No blisters even without gloves.
The very best hand pruners you could by are made by Felco! Everyone I know uses them. They are the best, a bit expensive though. I also have Fiskars hand pruners, they are ok. Felco hand pruners are made of metal whereas Fiskars are typically plastic (the blades are metal). Felco's give such a nice cut and even have pruners made for left handers!

I also like Felco because you can remove and sharpen the blades when they become dull. My Fiskars pruners can be sharpened, but it isn't as easy as the Felco. I've had my Felco's for a long time, and they're still going strong.

I don't know if you can buy Felco's at Lowes or Home Depot. Try a garden center or nursery!
I was a pro gardener for 15 years and will second the opinion for the Felco. Especially for hand pruners, they're the best.
Felco's are supposed to be the best, but they are high-dollar. I have seen ones that are $50.00 or more. Corona's are decent as are Fiskars. Just make sure you get the bypass pruners instead of the anvil, as the bypass make clean cuts and the anvils just squish stems & branches. Not good for plants.

Check at a good garden center for the pruners, or maybe eBay, which seems to have everything.
Felco for hand pruners for sure. My wife just got some loppers at QVC. They have a rachet action and will cut a fairly large limb. I was amazed. I'm sorry but I really didn't pay attention to what the brand was. Look for pruners/loppers at QVC.com
Trust CONSUMER REPORTS. They say you get more bang for the buck with CORONA.
