Do Japanese maple trees lose their leaves surrounded by the spill out contained by California?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but we lately moved to California from Maryland and there's a small Japanese maple tree in the front courtyard. It was pretty and strong when we got here concluding month, but now adjectives the leaves have fall off and it looks brand of sick. Is this just because it's autumn, or could at hand be something wrong with it?

Answers:    Lydia,

The short answer is "YES"... I live contained by NorCal and 1 of 2 of my Japanese Maples have lost adjectives their leaves... The 2nd is on its way... No worries, they will start re-growing their leaves around March-April when the weather starts getting furnace...

Oh, if you want to "shape" them, January-February will be fine...

Hope this helps...!
