what is the best way to cut roses from the plant?

Answers:
Use a good, sharp knife and cut at an angle, or on the bias. This leaves more room for the rose to absorb liquid.

Also, for longstemmed roses, cut about halfway to the base of the branch, where it grows from the bush. This will save trimming later.
For shorter stemmed or clustered roses, cut back to the very first new growth coming from the branch that points outwards. This way, all new growth will be away from the center of the bush.
