What is eating my tomato plants?

I just planted 10 tomato plants and when I came out the next morning, 6 of 10 were eaten right down to the stem. What critters might I have in western new york that would do this. I've grown tomatoes for decades and never had this problem. I don't believe it is moles.

Answers:
