Any tips on getting my bougainvilla to flower. It has only leaves.?

I have propped it up against a lamppost. Tied it to the lamppost and it looks pretty, but it doesn't flower much. It has just one stem. I see other people's bougs with more. Mine is about 5 1/2 feet tall but skinny

Put the plant in full sun. Do not use nitrogen fertilizers. Use a fertilizer with a high second number ie 5-10-5 . Don't fertilize if you trans plant it. They dont need special soil, they seem to do well in poorer soil too.
