A lot of roses are graft to disease resistant rootstock, but rose grown on their own roots still grow ok. propagate cuttings each year and if they simply last a few years it doesnt really issue
In late summer choose strong ripe growth of the current years growth. Trim the cuttings near a sharp knife purely above a leaf, and again newly below a bud about 10 inch farther down, disappearing two or three leaves at the top, plant the cuttings in a mixture of sand and peat, plant 3 or 4 cuttings round the outer fringe of a 5 inch pot.
Using hormone rooting powder increases the chance of the cuttings purloin, and by late autumn of the subsequent year your cuttings will be ready to plant into your rose bed.
