What is the best nature of Tree to plant that will attract Squirles and Birds?
Answers: I love this question....if you want instant gratification or to some extent...quicker growth..look into a Purple Robe Locust..They will attract both plus the purple hanging flowers that look approaching grape clusters are very pretty.
For the slower growing but stronger tree, I would plant a BUR Oak. The yap on these os very corky and nice to look at. The birds love em and the squirrels will love the acorns.
I hold lots of other ideas for you..You could also plant a fruitless mullberry..they are wonderful..the birds will come and the squirrels too. If your looking for something with some POW....a Horsechestnut us a VERY BEAUTIFUL tree.

Apple trees attract both.
Any manner you like. Just hang down a few bird feeders in the branches and separate some nuts on the ground regularly.
We have a great deal of Pine trees where I live and lots of squirrels and birds... they own lots of pine nuts to eat.
I own pecan trees in my patio and i have plenty squirrels and birds.

oaks or walnut trees are great for squirls and birds ,just don't plant too close to your house.for the roots can violate your foundation.
Oaks, Maples and Magnolias. Birds love the berries because if their high lubricant content and squirrels love the fruits as well.
The squirrel isn't too picky more or less which tree they climb or jump from appendage to limb on. On my property, after hurricanes Ivan & Katrina, in that are still live oaks, pines, palms, golden raintrees, & a fig tree left. The squirrels especially close to the pinecones & strip them for their seeds. They similar to nutty trees; especially pecans here on the coast. You can put out dry ears of corn most anywhere in the courtyard & they'll come. The pine trees & golden raintrees grow quite express. I got free trees thru the National Arbor Day Foundation & their website have lots of information re: trees & shrubs.
In our every changing climate, here it's much dryer & hotter than anytime surrounded by the last 6 years I've lived along the coast. The birds are other looking for water & colorful blooms of flowers & fruits beside nectar.
Once you get started making an attractive safe and sound place for wildlife & start growing trees & flowering shrubs; you'll be in it for vivacity!
