Which is the best tasting tomato variety?
Answers:
The Beefsteak are large, meaty and juicy, one of my favorites. I wouldn't have more than a couple of plants again though. I grew 6 plants a couple of years ago and ended up continually harvesting. I kept my neighbors in tomatoes all summer! I decided to plant only 1 of that variety the following year, but some of the tomatoes that had fallen off the vine self propogated the following year..OOPS

that would be hard to say. It depends on what one prefers. BeefMaster is large meaty and juicy. celebrity is one of the most popular. Roma is good for salsa and the like, Mr Stripey has different colors, orange, red ,pink, German(pink_) johnson is a really pink tomato. some like cherry Grande, the little ones that you can pop into your mouth. It also depends on what you do with the tomatoes. Salad, Sauce, canning, eat whole, eat sliced. Different Tomatoes work better for different applications.
I like Roma, maybe because that's the only name I know. But those are tomatoes I like to eat.
That is a matter of personal preference. I like a pink variety, it still has big tomato taste with a little less acid. If you want even less acid choose a yellow or orange variety.
Brandywine, an Amish heirloom, is often said to be the best tasting.. They're not popular because they crack and split and sometimes look awful, but they do taste fantastic. For cherry tomatoes, I like Supersweet 100's (they're an improved version of the original Sweet 100's) and Sweet Millions.
Also, there's Ugly (or Ugli) Ripe, andother heirloom, but the Florida Tomato Growers Association (or maybe some other named group) has recently banned their being exported, I guess because they do not fit the image they want for their tomatoes. I used to be able to buy them at the supermarket and grow some from the seeds. Thankfully, some kind soul gave me some seeds for this year.
I like grape tomatoes or roma. But the Beefsteak are good also.
It depends who you ask. I love yellow tomatoes. They are sweeter : )
