I am 6 for 6 (100%!) with my 12-gage shotgun - hows that?
a 22.
Or a noose around the hole and wait for him to come up and when he does pull the noose tight.
That's to catch him. Killing him is up to you.
Maybe rock and gopher in a bag off a bridge into a river or body of water.
Or maybe use a hammer to the head.
Put rat poison in the wholes. I would use my 22-250 rifle its a digger squirrel killer.
Buy a gaurd dog . . . and let him find and rid you of this problem. If not, you might try "flooding the holes"
Wow, those are some great answers aren't they?
There is a device call GopherIt II. It works miracles where gophers and other, tunneling critters thrive.
It is a simple aluminum tube containing a few D batteries. It is driven into the ground and when activated, it emits a noise and vibration into the ground which make life very difficult for these creatures to go about the daily and nightly deeds. Gophers, they live in the darknness of tunnels, must rely on their excellent hearing to survive in a world that is out to get them. This simple invention makes it impossible and they find it neccessary to move on.
If the gophers are well established, they will first tunnel to the device and try to find out what is going on so, don't give up if in the first couple of weeks you find holes near the device. They will find there is no hope and quietly disappear.
If the gophers are recent arrivals, they will be gone within days. The device will operate continuosly for about 6 months on one set of batteries and the coverage area per device is 5 or 6 hundred square feet.
I own 4 of them and use them as needed for clients. The cost is about 25 to 30 dollars each. One is enough unless the house devides the infested areas
The last poster is right about gophers depending on their hearing, but there is a much cheaper way to drive them crazy. Just get a half a dozen of those cheap little outdoor pinwheels and stick them in the ground where the gophers have been digging. It will drive them away in a matter of a few days. It won't kill them, it just makes them "relocate".
