I live in the Pacific North West (near Seattle). Why is saltwater waterfront so expensive?

Theres only so much coastline dear.
And evryone wants it.

Other answers:
Location, Location, Location....everybody would like to have the view of the Sound.

Because of the sounds and the view! Plus you know that no one is going to build on that side of you...always an open view!
Waterfront is the key word. Forget the saltwater part. It's like beachfront, or inside the country club.
Hi there! I grew up on Whidbey Island (in Puget Sound north of Seattle) so I know what you mean about expensive waterfront.

People like to live somewhere they have a view, and with so much money in the Seattle area, and so many people wanting to live where they have a view of the water and there is only so much land with that kind of view...well, supply and demand are what keep the prices so high. High demand, limited supply.

I never understood why ANYONE would want to build an expensive house on the side of a steep hill simply because it has a view. And then seem so surprised when it falls onto the houses under it. or into the water. Not my idea of a good place to live!

But it sure is beautiful. I miss the mountains and the water, but not the people or the traffic!

Goddess Bless!
