Can you start apple tree seed next to hydroponics?

I'm sure this will sound strange, but the other morning, I was consumption an apple, and when I got to the middle, I found that the seed had sprouted and have roots a couple of inches long! It was unpunctually at night, and I didn't own any potting soil available, so I rigged up a make-shift hydroponics system.

The system consists of a small pump I bought last year placed within the bottom of a water bottle I cut surrounded by half, a funnel over that, and a tube running from the pump to above the funnel. Then, I took an old duster, folded it over several times, sewed it together at the top, and placed the seeds surrounded by the folds. I sat this contained by the funnel, and started the water running over the handkerchief.

Anyway, this has manage to get them to verbs to grow and to begin sprouting some leaves. My question are...

...What are the chances these will survive when transplanted to soil?
...What would be the best path to transplant them?
...At what point should I transplant them?

Thanks for your help!
Adam
