When is the best time of day to water my lawn, I live in the Northern Midwest?

Answers:
At night. Say around 10:00pm. If you do it during the daytime, the sun will dry up most of the water. Watering at night means you can use less water and the water will actually soak into the ground, which is what you want to happen.

Generally, the best time of day to water your lawn is at night or in the very early morning. I have read that if you water it during the day, it is comparable to putting boiling water on your grass, as the water absorbs the sund's heat and "cooks" your grass.
late evening so the water can soake in
At night. If you water it during the day, sun shining on water droplets covering the grass will burn it, similiar to the way a magnifying glass works.
After Sun-set. This way the water has time to penetrate the sod before evaporating.
Water in the evening, after the sun stops heating things up. Watering during the heat of the day the little droplets of water can act like little magnifying glasses and can injure your plants. Not to mention the loss of water from evaporation.
Early morning or later evening when the sun will not evaporate so much water. Also if you water during a hot day sometimes it will "burn" grass, depending on type of grass. It is more affective to water early morning as it allows lawn to store moisture for heat of day. But if this doesn't work for you the evening is second best.
I live near Chicago, I water in the early morning. If you water too late in the day, the water won't have time to evaporate and this can lead to mold and leaf/plant rot. If you water when the sun is really hot, it can lead to damage of the plants and leaves.
Hello, wake up people. You never ever water at night. If you do your grass stays wet all night leaving it succeptible to disease such as pythium blythe that breed on moisture especially during hot and humid periods Such diseases can wipe out your lawn by the next day. Water around 5 or 6 in the morning your grass will be dry by 8 or 9 and your good to go. If you can when watering you need approx. an inch a week so put it down in one application.
