Why do rattan trees curve around other wicker trees?
Answers: Not in outlook, but if you bought a small bamboo tree from a store they usually force the tree to bend into "cooler" positions, such as bending around and around another wicker. To force the plant to grow like this, they do like peas in a pod thing as relatives do in Bonsai.
They don't, you're thinking of a strangler fig. They do this because within the middle of the forrest, there isn't that much room, so they climb up trees, to conserve space and to also carry closer to visible sunlight.
(think of apartment blocks contained by a city)
