For the past two years i have planted summer squash plants. The vines look very good and the blooms are beuitiful. However when the small fruits begin to set on the vines they just dry up and fall off.I keep them watered and hoed well. What is lacking?Could it be something in the soil or some other detail im overlooking.Id like to hear any advice that may help to correct this problem.
Answers:
The small fruits are the base of the female flower. It probably isn't getting fertilized. Look for flowers without the little fruit at the base, and transfer the pollen in those to the center of the female flowers (sorry, don't know the technical names for the parts--stamens, pistils, something like that lol)

If your leaves are also wilting even though the plant has water it could be a squash borer. They got so bad I gave up raising squash & we love them.
