Does a Christmas cactus own a dormant season?

Mine didn't bloom this year, but I haven't done anything different than previous years.

Also, is it recommended to post houseplant questions here? The botany bit is a bit too scientific for me.

Answers:    Sure, this is the place for house plant question.

Christmas cactus doen't really go dormant, tho they rest after they bloom. I hold 3 that I have have for years, and in the winter, after they own finished blooming, I water sparingly, lately enough to keep hold of them from drying out, and in the spring they progress outside on the deck until late drop, just back a hard frost. By that time they hold had cool night and short days and have set buds. I do fertilize them contained by the summer with a fluid houseplant fertilizer about every 2 wks partly strength, or once a month full strength.

If I have to transplant them into a bigger pot I do it within the early spring when I give somebody a lift them out, and then into a pot solely one, or two sizes larger, at the most. I use regular potting soil, usually Miracle Gro or Scotts. If I use the Miracle Gro I don't fertilize as the fertilizer is already built in.

It go through a cycle:
" After its blooming period, the Christmas cactus go into a dormant period (February through March). During this resting phase, you should wet the plant only occasionally. Then, In April and May, resume mundane watering, watering thoroughly when the soil in the pot feel dry to the touch. June through August is the outdoor season for your Christmas cactus. It needs to be placed outside contained by a shady spot. Bring it back inside the genesis of September and keep the plant dryish and cool (50 to 55 degree F) until the flower buds form, watering only ample to prevent the plant from wilting. Once the buds form, increase the watering and temperature. November through January is the blooming term."
