You should be able to get one at any Nursery, or at Lowe's. I get my redbud trees from Lowe's, I don't have much trouble with them, out of the 4 I have purchased from them only one didn't make it and they have a One Year Money Back Guarantee, as long as you have either the receipt or the tag from the tree or both.

I think the best source for trees is the National Arbor Day Foundation. Dirt cheap if you are a member, still reasonable if you aren't. The trees tend to run small (although with some for extra $ you can get a bigger/older tree), but small is good--easier to plant and you don't have to stake. Also, they're a good source for tree care.
I'm in Va., and I'm not familiar with what grows up there. But, if you don't see redbud growing around there in other yards, or in the woods (typically at the edge of the woods) you may want to research whether or not they will grow up there.
I bought a nice one from Lowes last year in NJ for $16.99. Really nice quality about 6 feet tall. On the small side but great price.
