What is the best way to rid my property of voles?
Answers:
1. Some cats, and some dog breeds, will patiently hunt them.
2. Nanook of the North technique. If you see a burrow where a vole is pushing dirt out of, sit with a sharp trowel. When you see the dirt being pushed out, stab behind the dirt.
3. Get some castor beans and smear them with peanut butter. Take a stick and poke it down into the burrows, and put a couple of the castor beans into the hole. Do that in lots of places where there are burrows. A vole which eats a castor bean will get sick, and may come out. If you see a sick vole aboveground, clobber it.
I've killed pocket gophers with these techniques. Should work for voles too.

This worked for me.
First I flushed out the holes with water 2 or 3 times then right after the last flush while the hole was still full, I poured about a 1/4 cup of diesel fuel into the hole. As the water receded down the hole it coated the side with the oil. No more Voles.

I had a good cat solve that problem for me once.
