What are the best methods to prune and then propagate my bourganvilla tree?
Answers:
trimming any bush can be very tricky. What you must do is prune it at only "y's". In other words, think of the letter "y" and prune at the upper two cornors. You want to leave a Y so that new shoots will grow from both cuts giving you a fuller looking shrub as it regrows. I don't know how else to explain it. What I teach novices to do is make a small letter Y on a sheet of paper, cut it out, and then hold it against the shrub you are pruning. You can also prune at the nudule area, leaving the nudule, but that can get tricky. You then use a rooting product and put small ( no more than 6"cuttings) into your growing medium. By the way, I grow the white Buganvillia called "Alice" and it is beautiful.
