Answers:    I plant mine perhaps in advance than I ought to, but in generous containers. 3 tubers per pot. I cut a piece of plastic to cover the top and I leave it on until the first shoots are through. Then I remove it, and merely cover them at night beside an upturned pot if there is a forecast of frost.
Using this method I hold been competent to have contemporary potato's by the middle of May for the past 3 years.
The range which I plant is always Ulster Sceptres. A wonderfully flavoured potato, and pure white.
