I would like detailed instructions on how to plant flowerbulbs.?

I live in north central Arkansas, and have sunny and shady areas in my yard to choose from. I plan to build a raised bed, is this a good idea? Also is fertilizer a no no, or a must. Thank you

If you'll go to this link, you can click on the photo of whichever flower you like, and it will give you detailed information on how and where and when to plant.

For best results, pick a spot that gets at least six hours of direct sunshine a day and has well drained soil.
Bulb planting depth (measured from top of bulb to soil level) should be two to three times the greatest diameter of the bulb. If your soil is very sandy, plant a bit deeper; in heavy clay, don't plant quite as deep.

Also, try this pdf document; it's quite detailed, and you could just print it out for future reference...

Actually it's better to plant them in the fall.
jsgbullfrog sounds good. Try to get a book at the library about gardening without using fertilizers like Miracle Gro. Those are great, but they kill off the good stuff in the soil. Try the all natural approach. The more you practice and play with it, the better you get. My son swears by dog poop and my mom uses rabbit poop. Yuck. And I like to plant a dead fish near my roses every year.
Depends on what bulbs you're planting as to when you wnat to plant them. Most spring flowering bulbs ( daffodils, etc ) require a period of chilling so you want to plant them in the fall and let them chill in the earth over winter. Other bulbs like Amaryllis can't take the cold.

Don't confuse a corm with a bulb. Iris, for example, grows from a corm. It might look a little like a bulb but it's not.
