Abundant fruit but fig tree remains about 3 ft tall, why?

I've had a Fig tree for about five years. It produces abundant fruit which the birds love but it has not grown beyond three feet. Is this normal. If not, what can I do to make it grow taller?

Answers:
FIG TREES ARE REALLY BUSHES , SO THEY DONT GET TALL LIKE A REGULAR TREE, I DONT THINK YOU WOULD WANT IT TALLER. I HOPE YOU DO MAKE SOME PERSERVES OUT OF IT.

Other answers:
you may have the dwarf fig...they only grow about 3 feet tall.

If its fruiting, then thats as big as its gonna get. Figs dont get that tall to begin with.
