how do I grow great lawn from scratch?

Answers:
Mix equal part compost, sharp sand and grass seed and sprinkle liberally. Water at night, so it stays moist.

Dont cut the grass when it starts coming through for a few weeks, and when you do, put your machine at the highest level.

Then once a week, throw a couple of handfuls of seed onto the grass

Do this until happy

Other answers:
Start with 3-6" of good soil.
Put flats of grass down.
Add another 2" of soil on top and water well.
A light fertilizer will help.
Water 3-4 times per week and rake any thick spots of soil smooth.
