How do you get rid of horseflys in your yard?

Our home is surrounded by woods with a creek that runs through it. During the summer months you cannot go anywhere near the woods without having horseflys swarm all over you. They will literally chase you back into the house. I wondered if anyone had any solutions for repelling these annoying creatures.

Answers:
Those boogers really hurt! I live on a farm in Colorado, I fight those guys daily! The best thing I have found to put on your skin is skin so soft oil from Avon. Avon now makes this just for insect repellent and it works! around you house you can suspend plastic sandwich bags of water the light hits them and reflects prism in which the flies will not enter..........sounds strange but it works great! I have found the fly strips do not work well on horse flies( we call them deer flies here)Perfumes and hair sprays seem to attract them so try not to put any on before you go out side.
Hope this is helpful
God Bless

Take a ziplock bag and fill it full of water. hang them on your porch. That will keep the flies of the porch. Not sure about in the yard.
