What kind of bush?

I have a small bush in my backyard that stands about 3 foot high. It has very vibrant green leaves on it but I can't figure out what kind of plant it is. At first smell, the leaves smelled like a lemon or lime. But, my mom pointed out that it also smells like an "OFF" candle. I think that is called citronella....
Does anyone have a clue what this might be. It doesn't have any blooms or fruit on it. Just a small green bush.

You really don't give enough info to make a postive
identification. But it is possible that it may be what is known as lemon balm (Melissa officinalis). Look for oval leaves in opposite pairs on a square stems.

Maybe a quince shrub? Hard to say without more of a description or knowing where you live.
