I have started some tomatoes by seed....?

Can you tell me , they are in one of those little mini starters, with 36 spots in the container, has lid etc...

They have grown to the top of this holder, and have too many plants per spot, so I need to thin them out.

It is too cold to put them outside here yet, would like to keep them inside for about 2 more weeks - can i just transplant them to a larger container? A mini plant pot? And should I use some of the earth from where i plan to plant them? or should I buy special soil?

Ok so sorry for the questions, BUT tyty! :)

Answers:
It will be fine to transplant them to larger containers, just make sure you are very careful when you do it because young plants are quite delicate and roots and stems break easily.

Also, if they are going to be inside for another two weeks, make sure that they are in an area where they will get plenty of sunlight, otherwise they may grow tall and spindly. This would be bad when you put them outside because they would have trouble supporting their own weight, especially in a strong breeze.

And using soil from your garden, or another type of prepackaged soil would be fine. Whichever is easier for you. It shouldn't make that much of a difference. If you are using straight garden soil though, just make sure to fertilize well once you plant them outside.

In general tamatoes can't get enough of sun and heat, so as long as you wait until a time when the night tempurature won't get too low, you should have no problems transplanting.

A good potting soil would suffice.. but be prepared to wait a long time before you have any tomatoes.. starting by seed takes a long time.

Thin them when you plant them....and also you dont' want to just put them out side...you have to gt them use to being out side so you do it a little bit every day so the sun does not burn them
Plant them out in a grow bag in a plastic grow bag cover you can buy from garden centres. These keep the frost and birds off.
