I would simply keep on walking. I don't think a bug needs to die for no reason. It doesn't bring me any entertainment to see a bug die. I don't really think it experiences any pain but I would just let it go.
Btw, let this question go. Everyone doesn't care about SQUISHING A GOD DAM BUG!

Hmmm honestly I'd probally not even think twice about the bug and go on about my day...
If the worm was still alive and could live, I would take the worm outside into the open area and let it go free.
i would put him out of his pain - to contemplate it would only be sardonic and proof that what ever you were doing "all dressed up" you were incredibly bored...life has more to it than bugs...especially squishing them..
It's probably ok to feel sad for a second or 2, then you should indiscreetly slide your foot over to squish the rest of him to put him out of his misery. Depending on where you're standing, you can clean your shoe off on some grass or a doormat.
