Regarding Indoor Tomato Plant.........?

I keep the flourecent light[growlight] on for it all the time.
it may not grow faster but it will grow...

I don't think you are going to have luck with a tomato plant indoors. They must have full sun and temps in the 80's and 90's to produce fruit. If indoors is all you have to work with, I would get the big shop-light flouresent light sets (has two 48 inch bulbs), but the bulbs that come with it is not going to simulate sunlight. Go to a store that sells BULBS that simulates sunlight...very pricey. The bulbs can be found at indepndent nurseries (Not Home Depot or Lowes...they have only basic GRO LIGHTS). Go online and type in Grow lights and start looking for these intense gro lights.
The 60 watt bulb is just not going to 'get it done'.....not even a regular 100watt. Sorry.

It may grow a bit faster, but will become straggly, tall with lots of stem but fewer leaves. Your tomato needs sun light or grow light to develop into a sturdy plant with lots of fruit. And remember that when the blossoms set you must hand pollinate, unless you have bees in your house. This can be accomplished by simply brush your fingers from one blossom to next and so on. Some will tell you to use a small brush or q-tip but I've always been sucessful with the fingers.
Plants do photosynthesis only when light is available. Photosynthesis allows the plant to 'grow'. The more light a plant has the better they will do.
Plants respire all the time (when it's dark or light). They are loosing matter and energy by respiration all the time so they have to make up for it with photosynthesis.
More light, more mass.
Why stop at 60 watts?
Tomatoes need real sunlight to produce properly. You might be able to get away with it with a special light just for plants though.
