Any ideas about fences?

I have gotten an idea about a fence, to install a post of some sort in the ground then drill holes through the post then run large rope (slightly sagging) from one post to the next post. My ???? is, what kind of material could I use for the post? Money is the most concern. 4x4 posts would be too exspensive. I need to go about 800 feet I'm thinking about 10 foot between the posts.

You are only going to get as good a fence as you are willing to spend cash. I would get green treated 4x6, cut them to the proper length, and install them. Cut the tops on an angle, square it off a bit so you don't have a sharp tip. You'll need to plan to put them in at least 18 inches deep, and to whatever height you deem appropriate. If you go higher than about 24 inches, you might need to go a little deeper.
