do you need to trim back hibicus flowers as they start to grow to make them bush instead of branching out?

my hibicus comes back every year, It gets bigger each year,It just is so big I thought I may be able to make it bush instead of sprouting all over, It is really beautiful and has hugh flowers on it.I have to tye it up because it is so heavy with all the branches and flowers
