How can I keep squirrels out of my outdoor flower pots?

They dig holes and bury things in there, uprooting my flowers, sometimes eating the flower shoots.

Put mothballs in the plants.
put a no squirrel sign or deadly poison
try a couple mothballs per pot... shouldn't be too stinky but may intimidate squirrels... frankly, though, I live-trap 'em and move them to a relatively nearby state park :-)
