Answers:
They really are not going to hurt anything. Actually they are increasing biodiversity and making your garden more healthy in a sence. When they have used all available food they will die off on their own.

that is normal, it shows that the root system is composting down. if you want to remove them treat the area with a fungicide

You need to have the trunk pulled. If it is not possible to have the trunk pulled then sand it down (or just pull the bark) and spray it down with some wood sealer, to stop mold growth. But also think about how badly you want to stop them from growing. Mushrooms not only add a nice visual element to most gardens, they also add valuable nutrients to the soil.
Take pictures of it, mushrooms are pretty cool. They break down the waist of the forest. Not the waist of dead animals. That's what maggots and vultures are for. Mushrooms break down rotting plant life.
if you really want to kill the 'shrooms spread some LIME around the area. You can fine it at any home improvement store or garden center.
simple, use 2 cups of dry laundry detergent, sprinkle over affected area with your handheld sprayer.
