How do I get rid of Sticker Weeds (a.k.a. Goat heads)?
Answers:
Spectracide makes a good herbicide - as effective as roundup, but not as costly . .
Cheapest method?
Bleach - sprayed directly on plant --- cover surrounding area, so as not to kill it also. . .

Try RoundUp, it's a herbicide that works very well. Be careful with it because it'll kill the lawn too.

I pull them out whenever I see them start to grow. Sometimes I don't find them until they have spread 2 ft around. But I still pull them and throw them away, making sure not to leave stems with stickers on them.
The problem with just killing them is that the stickers (seed pods) are still there and will sprout, if not then, then next season.
When we do kill ours with Roundup, after they are dead we burn them.
Pull them out & please make sure you put them in the bin & not just throw them on the ground then forget about them as this will make the problem worse, as it will encourage others to grow.

YOU CAN START WITH PULLING OUT WHAT IS THERE NOW AND IF YOU ARE DETERMINED ENOUGH YOU COULD GO AFTER ANY THORNS ON THE GROUND. I WOULD NOT USE ROUND UP, IT WILL KILL EVERYTHING IT HITS. I HAD THEM A FEW YEARS AGO AND I USED WEED AND FEED THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. IT WILL KEEP THE GOAT HEADS AND ANY NEW WEED PLANTS FROM EVER COMING BACK. IT TOOK TIME BUT IT DID GET ALL OF IT. EVENTUALLY THE THORNS WILL DISAPPEAR, TOO. YOU CAN ALSO GET A COMPOUND THAT WILL KILL SEEDS BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO ASK YOUR LOCAL EXTENSION AGENT ABOUT IT. I HAVE NEVER USED IT. HE MIGHT HAVE BETTER IDEAS, TOO. GOOD LUCK!
Spray some 2,4-D Amine on your yard.
Will not hurt your grass. Rate is 1-qt. per acre.
Or 4-ozs. per 2-gallon sprayer.
