How to erradicate the weed 'Horsetail'?

Answers:
Horsetail/Mare's Tail

One of the most difficult weeds to eradicate from a garden is horsetail. Once Horsetail gets established in your garden it is very difficult to keep under control. We normally control it by mixing up a small amount of wallpaper paste with glyphosphate weedkiller. This mixture is then applied directly to the leaves and stem of the plant using a paintbrush. You should be careful not to cause any damage to children, pets and garden wildlife when using poisonous chemicals.

One of the reasons for the strong weedkiller is that this is a very ancient type of plant and doesn't respond to the usual methods of weed control.

Well Rosemarie, the problems with Horsetail (Equisetum spp.) are: It is among the oldest of all plants-200 million years old, and it once dominated the plant world.
It is "NOT" cultivated because once established they are nearly impossible to eradicate.
The UP side of having it: Horsetail is the only herb that you can use to sand wood to a final finish. It has a high silica content. You can use the stems as scouring pads for shining metal. (pots and pans too) The cut stems can be used in flower arrangement for a unique and interesting touch. Maybe you can turn your nuance plant to a profit plant and sell some off to wholesale florist, or at craft shows!
Horsetail / mares tail weed is almost impossible to eradicate the roots go on for ever use roundup and keep applying it ever time you see a shoot

I wish someone had told me about the wallpaper paste! It doesn't go away really. It makes you think it has but then just pops up again later. None of the regular weedkillers are any use, so I wouldn't waste your money - I tried them all. Sorry. I hope the paste works for you though. Good luck!
you do wont the honest answer impossible as it spreads by rhizomes whatever you use it will be back
