a question concerning my lawn?
Answers:
i live in the uk but grass is grass, do you have a problem with moss
do you have animals especially tom cats, are there any large trees nearby, the problem can be varied and any of the one outlined,
fungal spores can also cause grass to wither, treat the area with a bone and meal mix or any preparatory liquid fertiliser, if this is not working as your usual lawn maintainance seasonal check the ph level it could be travelling root system from some old tree or planting . if it continues consider lifting the turf and relaying the area
or re seeding, but do check the soil before radical surgery. good luck with it.LF

You should test your soil. Perhaps that portion of your lawn has a lot of acidity in it. Go to your local lawn and garden store and ask for a kit to test your soil. Otherwise, there are lawn specialists that will also do it for free or for a nominal fee (since they want your business).
I just recently found that after mopping my floors with pinsol and water. I dumped out the dirty water on my dryed out lawn, and a few days later, WOW its green now!!!!!
I have to wonder if this is a newer home. Many construction companies are known to bury their excess garbage to avoid the dump. I bet if you dig deep enough you'll find a paint can or some dry wall. It would be nice to know, if you continually re-seed this area, or if the grass comes back after a dry dormant period.
again you need to have your soil tested for sure. You may need to add lime or fertilizer to your soil but have your soil tested first just to see if your soil is just right for planting grass for your lawn. Then once you get your soil tested and if you need to add anything and over-seeding is done then you will have a beautiful lawn.
