standard rates usually run at 5% of a homes value. i recommed having a pro do the hard stuff (heavy labor work like retaining walls, walkways, rock work, building planter beds, plating bid trees & shrubs, etc). also consider getting a pro to to the design work. But i also recommend planting the small stuff yourself. you can save thousands on labor costs, and you get the benefit of saying that you did it! (kinda)

It usually depends on plant choice and the hardscape.If your just looking to freshen up an exhisting area then a couple hundred.However if it's all new and has to be constructed then the price goes up accordingly.Ask for an estimate from several contractors in your area.Don't forget to ask for references.
