my hydrangas have never bloomed?

Any thoughts on why this might be?

Here's something from GardenWeb that addresses this exact question and may help you out:

"Probably the most commonly asked question on this forum. It is most likely a macrophylla - arborescens and paniculatas will typically bloom regardless of climate and care. The most common reasons for lack of blooming are:
1)winter cold damage to flower buds
2)improper pruning
3)fertilizing with a high nitrogen fertilizer
Without more details, it is just a guess as to which it may be, but in zone 6 without any winter protection, I'd put my money on #1." (Why do ants crawl over peony buds all the time? They don't eat them or otherwise hurt them.?
