what kind of perennial flowing plant will work in some shade and lots of humidity as a high ground cover?

Answers:
I would start with fern (which spreads quite well, so if you need it contained, be sure to see to that...) and then there are some WONDERFUL types of hosta. Certain types of smaller Cannas can and will tolerate shade, as will Coleus, both of which are good for adding a splash of color.

Other answers:
Phlox is always a favorite of mine. If you want something with more height, you can use lamiastrum.

EDIT: Answering for zone 5/6. Your results may vary. You can also go to a nursery and talk to their staff.

Wave petunias are a cool plant that may work well. They are inexpensive and come in many colors that look really pretty when planted all together. Also, they should flower all throughout the spring and summer, even into the fall, depending on the area you are in, and as long as you dead head them. I'm in eastern PA and they do really well pretty much almost until winter.

I will try and think of a couple more and get back to you.
Get vinca major the old fashioned plant that has a blue flower on it and blooms in the spring and early summer, we used to call them periwincle. You can mow them down it the fall and throw a little fertilizer on and they will be right back in the sping. I had a huge bank covered with them in NC
Petunias are not a perennial plant in most of the United States. Dead Nettle Silver Beacon or another cultivator of dead nettle. There are many different varieties now and they have pretty blooms. Anne Greenway is a nice dead nettle as well. Do not let the name deter you. It is a very pretty plant. is there a vegie that I can plant this late in the season and still have produce (seeds)?
