Does anyone know of shade tolerant, frost tolerant plants that will grow in zone 5a, in Ontario, Canada?

The potential spot gets very little direct sun, but is at the base of a brick wall, facing (roughly) north

Answers:
Veggies need to be planted yearly. And they do require alot of sun to produce . This is not a good spot for veggies. I would go with hostas

Other answers:
Hostas grow wonderful in the shade and seem to survive in very cold climates. I've never lost one.

well, we have some pretty cold winters in N.Y.......and Lily-of -the-Valley does very well here......

it is a shade loving perennial, short dark-green plants that spread underground ( they're easy to dig out to control growth ) with the loveliest tiny white bell-shaped flowers in the spring...that smell wonderfully !!
