Where can i buy the san deigo red BOUGAINVILLEA plant surrounded by san francisco or close by?
Answers: I'm in Sonoma County and don't know exactly which nursery you can try. But if someone cannot hand over you an specific nursery name, consequently call some and ask if they hold it. If they don't have them within stock, ask if they can do a special order for one. They do special directions all the time and will most plausible be able to acquire one within a week or so.
Good luck!
Bougainvillea are a thaw weather plant and they do not handle frost and cold adjectives that well. I own 2 of them in my courtyard. Both of them took about 6 months to recuperate after the frosts/freeze that we had surrounded by February of 2007 in San Diego county. If the frosts have continued for another 2 weeks, I think we would own lost them. By the way, our "frosts" be 25 degrees at dark followed by 60 degree days.
I really do not know San Francisco's climate, so I would suggest that you do a bit more research on the plant to see if it will survive your climate. If the local nurseries do not flog them, that may be an indication that the plant is not suitable for the area.
