What is the best metod of removing a large, above ground outcropping of bedrock from my backyard?

I have heard that there is a type of liquid chemical that can be injected into the outcropping of bedrock that will expand and split the bedrock. has anyone heard of this? If not what is the most cost effective method of removing bedrock that is lying close to the foundations of your house?

Answers:
You do not mention what area you live in. If you live in the north, in the area of the Canadian Shield, chances are that the outcroppings are granite and may be very difficult and expensive to remove. If you live in central Kentucky, chances are the outcropping is a layered shale or limestome outcropping and will be easier to remove. If you live in the Rocky Mountains, you outdropping could be almost any kind of rock. You get the picture.

In the end, if it is a sedimentary (layered) type of outcropping, you can probably remove it with a pick and shovel. It will take a lot of labor, but not much money. If you have granite, or any other number of types of rock, you may have to hire a backhoe or other heave equipment.

Good luck with your problem.

run an add, most people would gladly do what it takes to remove it, because to buy this type of rock is expensive, most want it to line flower beds make walk ways and it is excellent in the little waterfalls. while also bear in mind one mans trash is another mans treasure.
