I own seen them cleaned beside Dawn dish soap and water, Dawn cuts through grease and grease ... make sure it drys biddable. Seemed to work fine.
I have see them cleaned with gasoline. Seen a bowl or container beside gasoline poured in it and the filter wash by hand. Worked fine. Not sure how they disposed of the gasoline ... may enjoy just set it fiery and let it burn itself out??
