I have the big bannana slugs all over my yard. Any thing other than salt I can use?

Your safest and cheapest method would be rock salt. The dogs can lick it all day and get nothing but thirsty. There are some snail and slug pesticides out there but dogs eat "anything!" so don't waste the additional expense of buying that stuff. Besides, I think the active ingredient is salt anyway.
get a couple of cool whip tubs(might want to find something heavy duty) with the lids.. cut a square hole in the side but up high make 4 around the sides poor beer in them place the lid on and put them in the yard.. the slugs will crawl in and drown.. you will need to clean and change them if you have alot of them. search online they make garden ornaments (frogs??) for this purpose also
Take a small container and fill it with beer. They love the smell so they climb in and drown themselves.
aww, they are sooo cute! did you know that you can kiss banana slugs...we did it at 6th grade camp, well, WE didn't do that, but one kid was brave enough and won a chocolate bar and a banana slug tee shirt for doing it...you could always just transport them to a new area, out of your neighborhood...do the dogs eat the slugs../salty slugs?
Through a beer party for your slugs. Slugs love beer so much they will drowned themselves in it. Dogs like beer to might want to keep them in the house. Slugs well not crawl across sandpaper or eggshells.
I'm sure all of the methods above have their merits. But, have you considered if the slugs suffer as they slowly melt away or drown?
The little slugs like beer - take a shallow container and put it in a flower bed with beer in it and the next day it will be full of slugs. I've never tried it with the big ones but who knows maybe they like to drink too.
