hhheeelllppp i've got un-identified bugs!!!?

growing my garden in hay bales, and everything is doing well, however, i noticed today that the bales have alot of little TINY (like chigger size) reddish brown buggs all over them. they don't seem to be harming the plants, at least not that i can see yet, but i don't know what they are. i know that the bales are rotten, they have to rot in the middle in order to be able to grow things...are these a result?
i looked on severla sites to find info on how to prep the bales, and followed all of the steps, WHAT ARE THESE BUGS? they are, well i think they are (so small it is hard to tell) little brown six legged things, don't look like aphids, but i could be wrong...i know that there are garden guru's our there that can help me?!?!?! please, help me? this is the third year we have tried a garden for our little girl to tend and harvest, and all of the others have felt the triles of southern Carolina red clay soil...please help us see a harvest this year!

Answers:
alfalfa weevil. Pea aphids and blister beetles
It could be some sort of weevil or aphid. You can search yahoo images under weevil or aphid and try to match them up. Also, find a local nursery or garden shop, if you can bring a sample bug in in a bottle or zip baggie they can most likely tell what you are dealing with, if and how to treat for this. As a beginning gardener you can always turn to a local shop for help, also they may be able to put you in touch with a master gardener in your area, they are usually very willing to help. Your area cooperative extension can be a great source for information and help. here is the main link but you should have an office for you county if you are in the US. I South Carolina's it is Clemson, link and search local offices and much other info
