The best way to kill a nuisance tree without cutting it down ?

Answers:
Drill several holes in the base and continue to fill them with pure weed killer. It will take about a summer to die off.
A slower way is to pound a bunch of 16D nails into the base of the tree. About one every 2 inches will do it in about a year or two.

Other answers:
Pour a good amount of rock salt around the base of it and water it down. Hey you can pour what's left over after making some ice cream.

Hopefully this isn't a really big tree.

Small tree will die within a couple of weeks.

Any tree will die when you put at least a foot of dirt around the base. For some reason it dies.
What size tree? If small, you can poison it with undiluted weed killer, dig some dirt from around the roots to make sure it gets down to them. If it's a large tree, you can girdle it.
Depending on the size...you will need to kill the roots first before it will actually die...If it is small...just dig it up and kill the roots...If it is a big tree...you have no choice but to cut it down and dig up the stump to kill the roots...If you do not kill the roots it will continue to grow....Good luck...
Cut away the bark about two-four inches wide all the way around the base of the tree.

Why don't you want to cut it down would be my question.
Or you could "girdle" it like the old time loggers used to do: Remove all of the bark from the circumference of the trunk, at a width of 1" to 2". Adding weed killer is optional.
Drill a hole large enough to fit a galvanised pipe (fence post ect..) Slide that baby in there and cap it off. Hopefully it falls on your neighbors house...
