Answers: I'm not going to tell you not to do it. I've be clean and sober over 5yrs. and I'm still not going to report to you no. If I were nearby to show you the right and wrong ones I would show you, but I'm not. No book or forum can guide you safely. I know you're impatient (ah - youth) but the safest style to proceed would be to find some 'old fart' approaching me to be your mentor. Where do you find an old fart mentor? Look for a mycological or mushroom club surrounded by your area and progress on one of there frequent forays this time of year. Someone surrounded by the group will be more than happy to abet insure your first trip isn't to the ER. RScott

Or better yet, Go to the Redwoods State University , within Eureka ,California. web ,and your sure to find answers to your gardening question (also check ,Redwoods State Collage Agriculture Dept.) don't do it. mushrooms are thoroughly dangerous. There are plentiful that look similar but they can be two different varieties and can KILL YOU
