What are some good house plants would you suggest for a dorm room?

If your theme is outdoors/wildlife.

Peace Lily is great for bringing in good oxygen,need lots of water but is great . Otherwise hanging Asparagus and Diefenbakia these plants filter the air. Cactis if you dont like to water, but they dont filter the air.

Philedendron. It grows vines that will get longer and longer, so you can track the progress each semester.
Ferns are great for the outdoor theme but you have to have just the right atmosphere to keep them alive.Philodendrons and spider plants are easy to care for.They droop when they really need to be watered and always perk back up after a good soaking.
Well, if your outdoor theme involves a Southwestern or desert feeling, you should get an aloe plant. In my experience they are pretty much impossible to kill. In fact, I have had to divide and repot mine once a year since I've had it. Now I have 4, lol. And there have been times in their lives they have been seriously neglected. I originally got it at Wal-Mart for about $3. It's awesome for sunburns, too.

I just keep mine on a southern exposure window sill. They grow faster with fertilizer and consistent, but not excessive, water.
