How do I plant an acorn from an oak and make it grow?
Answers:
Just bury about half the acorn and keep moist till it sprouts. After it sprouts and starts new growth you can put a little more dirt on it but dont cover the growth. Keep protected from anyone or anything walking on it. If you know of a oak tree look around the ground and find already sprouted acorns and carefully dig them out and replant. Keep watered like any other tree and after its established ou can lightly fertilize.

I don't believe acorns are like pinecones, that need fire to open and make "germinatable".
I would think let them dry one season (last fall's should be ok to plant now). Put it in the ground about 1" deep, keep moist, and wait about 75 years, you'll have a nice tree!

I suggest you talk to a local nursery or a local garden center for their thought. Your best bet would be to actually purchase an oak tree at that nursery or garden center while you are there. The saplings they have are usually well established, healthy and strong! Growing from seed is always tough!
lol, let the squirrels do it... that's how ours came up. :D
they still keep trying to plant more but we won't let them because we don't have THAT big of a yard...
If a squirrel can plant them and make them grow then you shouldn't have a problem. Stick them in the ground (just below the surface) like a squirrel would and wait.
Pine cones don't need a fire to give up their seeds or for the seeds to germinate. I have enough pines spouting in the flower beds each year to know.
Just put it in the dirt and it will grow my potted plant that I leave out in the summer time just recently sprouted an oak tree so I transplanted it into its own pot
Just put it in the ground and keep it watered. Unless your seed is sterile it should grow.
We have a 100 plus year old live oak in our back yard. I have them coming up all over the place.
