How do you treat Yellow and Brown Spots on the Lawn?
Answers:
It could be a number of things.
The most sure way of killing them is to lay 3-4 inches of good soil on top and replace the grass. Place some soil on top of the grass will prevent it from burning.
Fertilize the whole lawn and make sure it is watered 2-3 times per week in the morning. Morning waterings prevent the water from sitting on the grass too long and promoting fungus.
If you do not want to dig up the spots, you can try poisons for chinchbugs and slugs. But, also add fertilizer to promote healthy growth of good grass which can choke out the other, weekened turf.

Get some turf builder.
Get some turf builder.
Fertilizer, water, and rope if off so no one (or anything) can step on it for at least a week or two.
Sounds like chinch bugs, check store for this treatment or get a landscape pro to help and treat.
I worked in a nursery for a summer and learned a little bit although I'm not an expert. It might be insects, pull at the yellow spots and if the grass comes out very easy it probably is insects plus you should be able to see them,if that's not it,it could be an iron deficiency and you can buy the bags of iron at a nursery.Hope this helps.
Teach your children to use the bathroom.
sounds like grubbs. Get some Grub ex and put it down. Now is the best time. Wait a week, get a small garden fork, turn over the top inch or two of soil and then resead.
