How do you care for an orchid?

Answers:
Orchids, generally, are pretty easy to care for. They should be potted in some sort of orchid medium that allows for good drainage, kept in filtered, in-direct light and with some humidity - either from a daily misting or a dish of water placed under the pot. I place my orchid pot in a sink of water for about 30 minutes once a week to soak the planiting medium and I give an orchid fertilizer every 2 weeks. When they are not in flower, leave any remaining stem alone - don't cut it - that is where future flowers will emerge.

Other answers:
You want to give them diffused, rather than direct sunlight. You can get a special "food" for orchids at Wal-Mart. Twice a month you want to put your orchid in the bathroom, but not in the tub. Turn the shower on HOT and let the room steam up. Your orchid will love you for the steamy mist!
